EMDR Therapy in Brisbane & Online
What is EMDR?
What to expect in sessions
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process and release the impact of trauma—so you can move forward with more ease, clarity, and control.
EMDR is a structured therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories that impact your life or sense of well-being.
When something overwhelming happens—especially experiences like trauma, abuse, coercive control, or chronic stress—your nervous system may not fully process it. Your autonomic nervous system can remain in stress response or flight/fight/freeze/fawn response, causing chronic hypervigilence or shutdown. EMDR helps your brain do what it couldn’t do at the time: safely make sense of the experience so it no longer feels present or overwhelming.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn’t require you to go into detail about everything that happened. EMDR is approved under Medicare Better Access Initiative.
❋ 1. PreparationWe build safety, grounding skills, and emotional regulation so you feel resourced and supported.
❋ 2. Identifying targetsWe identify specific memories, experiences, or patterns you’d like to work on.
❋ 3. ReprocessingUsing EMDR techniques, we help your brain process the memory in a way that reduces its emotional charge.
❋ 4. IntegrationWe strengthen more helpful beliefs and support lasting change.
You remain in control throughout the process. You can pause at any time.
What can EMDR help with?

“For all of us, unprocessed memories are generally the basis of negative responses, attitudes and behaviors. Processed memories, on the other hand, are the basis of adaptive positive responses, attitudes and behaviors.”
