Trauma-informed support for women, LGBTQI+ and gender diverse people in Brisbane & online
At Wildheart Therapy, I offer counselling for those who have experienced trauma and want support that feels safe, respectful, and attuned to their nervous system.
This is not therapy that rushes, pushes, or expects you to relive what happened. Instead, we focus on building safety, choice, and trust — within your body, within the therapeutic relationship, and in your everyday life.
You are always in control of the pace and direction of our work.
How I work
Trauma affects more than thoughts and memories — it shapes the body, emotions, relationships, and sense of self. My approach is integrative and tailored, drawing on evidence‑based and body‑aware therapies.
Our work together may include:
Gently building nervous system regulation and grounding
Supporting safety and stabilisation before trauma processing
Working with the body’s responses, not just the story of what happened
Exploring meaning, identity, and values impacted by trauma
Strengthening boundaries, self‑trust, and relational safety
You do not need to know what kind of therapy you want. We will find what supports you, together.
Areas of support
I support people who have experienced a range of challenges, including:
Life transitions
Anxiety and Depression
Childhood emotional, physical, or sexual abuse
Domestic and family violence
Complex or developmental trauma
Single incident trauma- witnessing a crime or being in an accident
Grief and loss
Anxiety, hypervigilance, or emotional numbness
Difficulties with trust, relationships, or boundaries
Victim’s of Crime
You are welcome whether your experiences feel clearly defined or hard to name.
What is EMDR therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that has been used internationally for over 25 years to support recovery from trauma and distressing life experiences.
EMDR is based on the understanding that when overwhelming events are not fully processed, they can become “stored” in a way that continues to impact how we feel, think, and respond in the present.
Through EMDR, these memories can be gently reprocessed so they feel less intense and no longer carry the same emotional charge.
This can reduce triggers, ease symptoms, and support a greater sense of stability and wellbeing. EMDR can also help shift long-held beliefs about ourselves, reduce urges linked to coping patterns such as addiction, and support the development of more adaptive ways of responding.
For those who experience a sense of different “parts” of themselves — often shaped by early attachment or trauma — EMDR can also support a gradual integration of these experiences, fostering a greater sense of wholeness and internal coherence.
Taking the next step
Reaching out can feel vulnerable, especially after trauma. You’re welcome to take this step gently.
I offer a free 15‑minute phone consultation so you can ask questions and see whether working together feels like a good fit — with no obligation.
