Support for Victims of Crime

Experiencing or witnessing a crime can have a profound and lasting impact. Many people find that the effects don’t end when the event is over — trauma can show up in the body, in relationships, in sleep, and in a sense of safety in the world. If you are a victim of crime, and finding it difficult to move through the trauma, it’s important to know that support is available.

I have many years of experience supporting victims of crime, including people who have experienced violent offences, sexual assault, domestic and family violence, sudden loss, and those who have witnessed traumatic events. I work with children aged 12 +,  adults, women, and marginalised communities, offering trauma-informed, compassionate counselling that moves at your pace.

My approach recognises that trauma affects everyone differently, and healing is unique to each person.

A core part of my work is creating a safe, respectful space where you can speak openly, regain a sense of control, and begin to make sense of what has happened. I draw on evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies, including narrative, somatic, and compassion-focused approaches, to support emotional regulation, reduce distress, and help restore dignity and agency after harm. I also am a certified EMDR practitioner and can help process traumatic memories that are impacting daily life.

I understand that financial stress can be a significant barrier to accessing counselling after a crime. To reduce this burden, I am happy to invoice Victims of Crime Queensland (VOC QLD) directly, so there are no upfront costs for approved counselling sessions. I am also registered with NSW Victims of Crime (VOC), allowing eligible clients in New South Wales to access funded therapeutic support.

If you are a victim of crime and would like to explore counselling, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss your options, eligibility, or any questions you may have. You do not have to do this alone.
